Merit-based scholarships for 14-day summer expeditions combined with post-course activities, designed to bring together a diverse group of urban and suburban students (ages 15 to 17) from across Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic Region. To qualify for these competitive awards, students must demonstrate leadership qualities in their academic, athletic and social lives. These unique courses challenge young people to strengthen their own leadership abilities while also encouraging those of their "team."
Funding for Youth Leadership Corp (YLC) Expeditions comes primarily from endowment funds, foundation grants and individuals. Applicants pay a nominal admission fee.
Applications and admissions are reviewed from April to June on a rolling basis. If interested, please be encouraged to submit an application early.
2010 YLC Dates: July 19th - August 1st, 2010
Modeled after the Youth Leadership Corps, the GOAL Program is intended for 7th & 8th grade student who are interested in cultivating their leadership potential. Offering a one-of-a-kind leadership experience, the GOAL program encourages participants to Get Out And Lead -- to set goals, to work toward achieving these goals and to develop themselves and their peers throughout the process.
Like the YLC, in addition to the scholarship funds provided by endowments, grants and generous individuals, applicants must pay a nominal admission fee.
